Message From The Family

Thank you for your support during this difficult time. Please enhance this tribute to Doris by adding your memories and photos.

Doris Irene (Smith) Anderson, 80, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2017 surrounded by her loving family after a short battle with lung cancer.

Doris is preceded in death by her beloved husband Bryant. Doris leaves two daughters, Nancy J. Sullivan and her companion, Greg Jenkins and Laura J. Anderson all of Worcester; five grandchildren- Daniel Sullivan and his girlfriend, Lauren Kender, Michael Collins, Timothy Collins, Kirsten Collins Leombruno and her husband, Andrew and Joseph Sullivan; a sister, Nancy J. Karlon; a brother in law, Thomas Londergan; nephew, Edward Londergan and his wife, Barbara; cousins Betty, Ronald and Susan Anderson, Linda and David Bernier; and her little dog Ginger.

Doris was born in Lawrence, the daughter of John C. and Ida A. Smith. She lived in Worcester for most of her life. After graduating from high school, Doris worked in several companies doing office work, and most recently at National Envelope Company before her retirement. She was also a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church for many years.

Doris enjoyed reading, baking, spending time with her family and friends, walking her dog in the neighborhood and taking her family for ice cream at Ronnie's. Doris was especially proud of her family heritage and culture, as noted in a 2016 Christmas Day article written in the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.

The family wishes to thank the Jewish Healthcare Hospice, and her primary care physician Michael Galica, for their dedication and compassion during Doris's illness.

Doris's calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 29th from 5 to 8 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury.

Her funeral service will be held on Friday, June 30th at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at All Faith's Cemetery in Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the heating fund of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 200 Greenwood Street, Worcester, MA 01607.

To the Anderson Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I was unable to attend your mother's funeral services and offer my condolences personally. I was visiting my mother in the nursing home and I just learned of your mother's passing this Friday evening. I will miss your mother and have missed your father very much. They were always so friendly, kind and generous to me even though it was only through Ronnie and Betty that I knew them. May your warm and loving memories of of "the good times" with them sustain and comfort you. Also one way to keep them "immortal" is to rekindle and honor their memory often. May God bless your family with love, serenity, health, happiness and prosperity.

Doris and Bryant were the best neighbors anyone could ever ask for. They were always friendly and kind. You could see Doris in the neighborhood walking her dog everyday. They were the couple that you would go to if you wanted to know anything about the history of this neighborhood. We all have lost a great presence, as they say, "you don't know what you have, till its gone." So sorry for your and our loss. I know that we will be less without her. May she receive the well deserved blessings of the good and the faithful.
